Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 gala apples
  • 1 tsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • tsp ground ginger
  • 1/16 tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ cup rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted
  • ½ tbsp maple syrup
  • ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • vanilla ice cream, optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 350° F on the "bake" setting. If your air fryer does not have this setting, the air fry setting is ok.
  • Slice the apples down the middle from the stem to the end and remove the core and the seeds. After removing the core, scoop out some of the apple around the core to form a cavity in the middle of the apple. Save the carved apple and set aside.
  • Cover the apple halves with butter using a pastry brush and sprinkle them with brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and ground nutmeg.
  • In a medium bowl, add the rolled oats, melted butter, extra apple pieces, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon.
  • Top the apple halves with the crispy oat topping mixture and place the apples inside the air fryer basket. Cook for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Remove the baked apples from the air fryer and let them cool for 5 minutes before serving. Serve with vanilla ice cream on top and enjoy!
