Ingredients You Will Need

Labelled ingredients for air fryer tacos.
  • Ground Beef: I like to get the leanest ground beef I can find, usually 93% lean, to lighten up these tacos as much as possible.
  • Shredded Cheese: A Mexican blend is my choice for this recipe.
  • Tortillas: Flour tortillas are typically easier to work with for mini tacos.

Substitutions/Additions

  • If you want a slightly lighter version, use ground turkey or ground chicken instead of beef. Ground bison is another favorite of mine.
  • Any kind of cheese will work well in this recipe, but something melty like mozzarella or even a pepper jack are some other great options.
  • Use this method to make tacos from shredded chicken, pulled pork, or whatever else you like as your main protein.

Recipe FAQs

What tortillas are best for air fryer tacos?

I prefer to use flour tortillas since they’re a little more flexible. Warm them up a bit first to make folding easier. This recipe also works with corn tortillas or gluten free tortillas if that’s your preference!

Why are my air fried tacos soggy?

Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket, as this can impact the way the tortillas cook. Also be sure to drain any excess oils from the beef before adding it to the tortillas.

How do you store leftover mini tacos?

Allow the tacos to cool and place in an airtight container or plastic bag in the fridge for 3 to 4 days. You can also freeze these tacos for a month or longer.

How should you reheat tacos in the air fryer?

Pop them back in the air fryer at 350 until the cheese is melty and the tortillas are nice and crispy again. Another option is reheating in the oven. This is especially good if you’re reheating a lot at a time. Tacos can be reheated right from frozen; just add a few extra minutes of cook time.
