Seafood fans will love this Air Fryer Sea Bass, a quick and simple, foolproof fish recipe that’s perfect for a weeknight meal.
Pair with your favorite sauce, use your air fried fish to make sandwiches, or just eat it as-is!
Why you will love this air fryer sea bass recipe
Tender, flaky fish with crispy skin and the perfect amount of savory flavor. Sound good? What if I told you that cooking sea bass in the air fryer is a healthy way to achieve tasty, golden brown fish without any deep frying?
This air fried sea bass has become one of my absolute favorite seafood dishes thanks to the easy prep, less than 10 minutes of cooking time, and simple ingredients. It’s the best way to whip up a quick and healthy dinner any night of the week.
It’s majorly customizable and easy to make, so it’s a great option to make for two or to have a nice meal for one with tasty leftovers!
Ingredients you will need
Sea bass fillets: This mild white fish has a subtle sweetness and light, flaky texture that makes it perfect as a base for savory spices.
Dijon mustard: Feel free to substitute regular yellow mustard in a pinch, Dijon just tends to give the fish a slightly more elegant flavor.
Fresh lemon juice: Pairs perfectly with the savory flavors and rounds things out with a pop of refreshing citrus. Save some lemon slices as well, they’re a great choice for presentation.
Seasonings: A simple combination of paprika, garlic powder, sea salt and black pepper are all you need to infuse your fish with tons of flavor, but you can add more flavor with spices like cumin, onion powder, turmeric, cayenne pepper, or chili powder for some heat.
Fresh parsley: I love to add a bit of fresh chopped parsley for a somecolor variation and hearty herbal flavor. You can also use other fresh herbs like sage or dill.
Can I make this recipe with chilean sea bass?
This recipe will work wonderfully with Chilean sea bass, but because it’s a much thicker fish it will need to cook much longer. I recommend cooking it for about 20 minutes.
How to make air fryer sea bass
- Prepare the fillets. Start by patting the fillets dry using a paper towel, then use a sharp knife to make 3 slits in the skin.
- Make the marinade. Add the olive oil to a small mixing bowl and mix with paprika, lemon juice, parsley, salt and pepper, and the garlic powder if using.
- Season the fish. Brush half the marinade over all sides of the fish using a silicone pastry brush, or just clean hands. Place the fillets in a single layer in the air fryer basket for best results.
- Air fry the sea bass. Cook the fish at 375 degrees for about 8 minutes, or until the skin is crispy. Drizzle with the remaining marinade and serve!
What to serve with sea bass
This air fryer sea bass is perfect to serve with just about any side dish, from a classic mac and cheese or creamy mashed potatoes to air fryer polenta fries or a fresh batch of cornbread.
For a lighter option, pair with a simple bed of greens, homemade slaw, or a healthy radish cucumber salad. Add a glass of crisp white wine for a healthy meal that’s great for special occasions or a satisfying and delicious fish dinner any time!
Air fryer sea bass recipe FAQs
As long as you make room between the fillets in the air fryer baskets, there should be enough air circulation that you won’t need to touch the fish once it’s started air frying!
I recommend starting around 375F, but the temperature might vary depending on your air fryer’s power and size. If you’re concerned about your fish being done, use a meat thermometer to check the thickest part of the fish for an internal temperature of at least 140 degrees F.
How to store sea bass
Leftover sea bass can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days, as long as it’s in an airtight container. You can also freeze fish for several months, but keep in mind, the longer it’s frozen, the more its texture and flavor will change.
How to reheat sea bass
Give the sea bass a light spritz with oil and place it back in the air fryer at 350 degrees F. It should be properly heated through and crisp again in 4 to 5 minutes.
